Continuous and precise monitoring of the
seismicity of the broader area around the TEST-SITE.
Estimation of the
focal mechanism and the basic source parameters
of the biggest earthquakes which triggered the strong motion network.

arrival times. Creation of a data bank with waveform data recorded by the
permanent seismologic network from 1981 up to now. Data are stored on CD-ROMS
in ASCII and include more than 12,000 events. A major upgrade of the
seismologic network is underway.

data analysis (DAN) using advanced software (Nanometrics
Inc. Canada) and numerus three-component 24-bit digitizers.
Detailed 3-D studies of the crustal and
upper mantle structure at the area of northern Greece applying non-linear
inversion techniques of P- and S- wave travel times.
Precise relocation of all the events at the broader Mygdonia basin
using 3-D velocity model. Attenuation of seismic waves
using S- and coda waves.
Quality factor Q for different frequencies
and travel times.
